This outlines what data the EverDrive application (“Application”) collects, how it is stored and used, and what rights and options users of EverDrive have with respect to the data.
What information does the EverDrive Application collect?
The Application stores your account information. This may include your username, name, email address, and information regarding your use of the Application. This information is transmitted to Cambridge Mobile Telematics (“CMT”), which also receives your location (GPS) when you use the Application, as well as data from the accelerometer and gyroscope and time of day, which CMT uses to provide tips to become a safer driver and compute your driving score. CMT also measures general phone activity (for example, by detecting whether the screen is on), but does not record any individually identifying features or sensitive information, such as key strokes or specific applications being run.
How is my information shared?
CMT and EverQuote expect to use data collected from the application to develop new products and services and to provide, maintain and improve existing products and services. In the process, EverQuote may share data with affiliated companies. CMT and EverQuote may also share data with third parties in a manner where it is anonymized, aggregated, or both, for any lawful purpose. If CMT or EverQuote shares such data with unaffiliated third parties, that data will not include personally identifiable information about you.
EverQuote or CMT may be required by law to disclose data collected by the Application to third parties, and all data may be deemed discoverable by third parties and used in accident investigations, litigation or both. You, CMT or EverQuote may be legally required to provide the data to third parties and their legal counsel. In these cases you should not expect to retain any privacy or confidentiality related to the use of the data captured through the Application.
Certain data may also be exposed via internal and external application programming interfaces. You hereby expressly consent that EverQuote may disclose to third parties any data necessary to respond to claims of violation of the rights of third parties and to protect EverQuote’s rights or property.
Publicly available information
When you use the Application, certain non-personal information may be visible to anyone using EverDrive, such as your username, driving score and your approximate mileage. Anyone who you share your phone with will have access to your registration details, driving score, and past trip information. You are responsible for keeping these details private and carefully screening the persons with whom you share the information.
Determining and sharing location
The Application uses location information. For the Application to function properly, you need to activate your phone’s location settings for EverDrive. We use the location information from your mobile device (e.g., latitude and longitude) to tailor the Application to your current location. This information is NOT shared with others.
How do I delete my account?
Should you decide to delete your account, simply uninstall the Application. If you would like our servers to remove your driving data, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your information, and we will remove your data. Even after you remove the Application, your information may remain viewable elsewhere, to the extent it has been shared with others, or was copied or stored by other users. If you change smartphones, you’ll be able to reinstall and continue using the Application.
Will there be changes to this policy?
This policy is subject to change at any time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make material changes in the way we use personal information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our Application or sending you an email. Users are bound by any changes to the policy when they use the Application after such changes have been first posted.
